Referral links, in plain English

Some links on this site are referral links. If you click one and decide to buy, the company pays us a small commission — usually between 3% and 20% of the sale. The price you pay never goes up because of our link.

These commissions fund the testing, the writing, and the time we spend answering reader questions. Without them, the site wouldn't exist in its current form.

How we mark these links

Anywhere a referral link appears, you'll see one of these signals nearby:

• ★ Editor's pick next to a recommendation in a blog post
• A short line ("we may earn a small commission") inside the relevant article or section
• The hashtag #ad on Pinterest and Instagram posts

What we will never do

• Accept payment to add a product to a recommendation list.
• Promote a tool we don't use ourselves or haven't tested.
• Recommend something we wouldn't recommend if we earned nothing from it.
• Hide that a link is a referral link, or bury it in small footer text.
• Sell, rent, or share your email address with any third party.

How we choose what to recommend

Every tool that makes a "best of" list has been tested in a real Etsy shop for at least 30 days. We evaluate first, and only then look up whether the company runs a referral program.

When a tool we previously recommended stops being worth it — we update the article and say so plainly.

Sponsorships, ads, and press

We don't run banner ads, sponsored posts, or paid-placement product round-ups. If a brand reaches out about a "collaboration," we direct them to this page.

We do occasionally accept review units for honest reviews — when we do, the review is labelled "review unit provided by [brand]" at the top of the piece.
